Growing crops in cities and space

I’m finishing a PhD in Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph. I study plant production in controlled environments (greenhouses and vertical farms) for food and medicine. I am also interested in space agriculture, and was a member of the finalist team in the Canadian Space Agency’s Deep Space Food Challenge, where we designed and built a crop production system for the Moon and Mars. I will be exploring frontier crop production in controlled environments for cities and space. These technologies will help us grow more and better food with fewer inputs and impacts, be it Manhattan or Mars.

Bad with pictures, worse with titles

If not working, I read books, play the guitar, and drink coffee. I also enjoy good movies and recently got into Formula 1. I obsess way too much about my graphs. But I’m terrible at documenting my life with pictures and could not find a picture of myself doing anything fun.
