Exploring technology policy for global development
I am finishing an economics PhD at UC Berkeley, with a twin focus on development economics and the economics of science and technology. My blog will focus on the intersection of these two – technology policy in developing countries. How important is technological self-sufficiency? How does the innovation ecosystem in China or India differ from the innovation ecosystems of the West? What would metascience policy for developing countries look like? The goal is to complement both traditional development economics (which focuses on catchup growth from other angles but ignores technology policy) and standard progress studies (which focuses overwhelmingly on the progress environments in rich countries).

I am addicted to tea and I sound like an unbearable snob when comparing different oolong teas. My happy place is Teance Fine Teas in Berkeley. I like to read short stories (especially those by Alice Munro). I go on long walks to just take in the vibes.
